On April 26th 2012, seventeen young men will graduate from “The Great Harvest Bible School” in Chennai, India. The students are from several areas in India and three other nations, Bhutan, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. Nathan will be conducting classes at the Bible College the day before their graduation. Nathan will be teaching one-on-one evangelism and using the Jesus Booth. Nathan will also teach them how to build their own Jesus Booths and will build a few booths from local resources.

Two of these young men are from the state of Orissa where since 2009 there has been several Pastors killed and many churches and homes of Christians burned down. These young men plan to take the Jesus Booth to Orissa and use it for evangelism.

Nathan still needs to raise his own support to go and also would like to fund the building of at least 10 Jesus Booths, which cost about $300 a piece. Let us know if you would like to help Nathan and help these young men to take the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

Greetings!!!

We pray all is well and this New Year has started out with an abundance of joy and blessings!

It has been a while since we have sent out an official Jesus Booth Ministries Newsletter. Lately, we have mainly given updates on our Facebook page and our website www.jesusbooth.com. We realize not everyone is on Facebook or has an opportunity to check out our website, so we knew now would be a great time to put one together and update you all.

Last year Jesus Booth Ministries (JBM) primarily focused on local outreach
and missions. This was a time to pour into our community and the communities
that surround us. JBM will continue to do so this year and we pray the Lord
continue to lead us and open more doors to share the love of Jesus Christ.
Another interesting development this year has been the Lord challenging
Nathan to use his art to paint “Faces of Jesus” along side the Jesus Booth
as something compelling to draw interest and conversation. We really feel
like it has been successful on a lot of levels.

Nathan/JBM, is also preparing for a missions trip to India! This will be
Nathan’s/JBM’s first time to India. The missions trip will take place
from April 24 to May 8th. Nathan and Jim Pierce, a local missionary, will be
partnering with Steve Hollingsworth of 4-HIM Ministries. They will start
their trip in Chennai, where they will conduct a two day missions
conference. At the end of the conference, they will attend and officiate the
first graduation ceremony for the Great Harvest Bible College in Chennai.
They will then travel by air to far Northeast India, to the state of
Manipur, where they will work with the children and staff at the Thonglong
Elementary and Secondary school, for two days. They will also be speaking at
the local church. From Thonglong they will travel by car, with a short stop
in Senipati, Manipur, India and on through the state of Nagaland, where they
will be teaching at the New Life Bible College in Dimapur Nagaland. From
Dimapur they will take train to Guwahati, where they will catch a flight to
Bagdora India, near the Nepal border. They will teach at the school and
preach at the church there. They will then travel by car into Nepal, where
they will visit and preach at a new church plant in Damak Nepal. They will
then proceed for a day of rest in Katmandu and fly home the next day.

As you can see from reading this, their days are filled with lots of
traveling, teaching and sharing the Good News. This is an amazing
opportunity and gift that the Lord has allowed JBM to be part of and each
stop, Nathan will be teaching on how to operate and utilize the Jesus Booth
and some of the time, on the street training.

As always, most importantly, we ask for prayer, prayer and more prayer!
There is such a peace in knowing that the body of Christ has us covered in
prayer. Also, if you feel led to give financially to the India Missions
Trip, you can mail a check to: Jesus Booth Ministries, Inc. P.O. Box 13343,
Oklahoma City OK 73113 and write “India” in the memo. You can also donate
On-line through 4-HIM. Just follow the link:
https://www.4-him.net/html/donate_process.php once you are there, you will
see “for the benefit of” and you will see a box next to it that says
“select” from that list choose “Jesus Booth” and continue to follow the
directions.

Thank you again for all your support! We are so thankful for you all!

Lord bless you,

4 New Churches

1500 New Christians.

New Hope!

New Inspiration!

New Meaning!

What do all these things have in common?

They are all the result of how the Lord can take the smallest things and make them great!

Los Angeles, California 1997. Nathan Gunn received a calling. A directive to begin a street ministry aimed at reaching out to the lost and un-churched. Stepping out in Faith and with meager means…Jesus Booth Ministries was founded.

The concept was simple. Construct a mobile booth, set it up on a highly trafficked side walk, stand in the booth and share JESUS with those who inquire.

It was noninvasive evangelism… AND THE LORD IS BLESSING IT.

The team and the Jesus Booth traveled from the West Coast to the East Coast, from Los Angeles to New York and many places in between. Often times met with opposition, they continue to pursue that, to which they were called, and to which we have all been called.

THE GREAT COMMISSION

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,”
- Matthew 28:19

In 2007, the Jesus Booth made it’s first trip overseas, along with 4 HIM, to Sierra Leone, Africa. You talk about opposition; the country is 70% Muslim. The odds were stacked against them as they set out to find a suitable perch from which to offer this unpopular message.

Do you know what happened?

OUR GOD WAS BIGGER AND CONTINUES TO MULTIPLY THE REVIVAL IN AFRICA!

We ask that you would consider supporting Jesus Booth Ministries, Inc. by partnering with us in PRAYER for the following:

Resources for the evangelistic teams in Africa and support for the new churches that God is raising up.

The LORD has only just begun restoring the nation of Sierra Leone and we are watching what the SPIRIT is doing through Jesus Booth Ministries, Inc. and feel honored and blessed to be a big part of that process. You may send all donations to :

During the summer of 2003, I met Steve Hollingsworth, president of His Healing Helping Hands, International Ministries (4 H. I. M.). It was through 4 H. I. M. that Jesus Booth Ministries, Inc. (JBM) was able to expand to several cities. From JBM’s inception, God was good to lead us to people with existing ministries with which we could network. Each time we took the Jesus Booth to a new place, we were able to leave the booth with local pastors and church members to use as an outreach tool in their own towns. As a ministry, we were blessed and assured that we were working within God’s plan by the positive response we received from the people we met. However, in May 2007, JBM joined a 4 H. I. M. team to Sierra Leone, West Africa, and we were overwhelmed by God’s greatness in a way we had never understood or experienced.

As we arrived in Freetown, I was introduced to M. S., a local pastor. Immediately, I recognized M. S. as a dynamic leader who would become a key player in helping our mission team during our stay. In getting to know him, I learned that M. S. had been the janitor and caretaker at Wellington Orphanage, a home and school for over sixty children left orphaned by Sierra Leone’s civil war.

While serving at Wellington, M. S. also helped at his church and took theology classes in his spare time. His sweet spirit, quiet yet resolute nature, and servant’s heart made him the perfect person to head up JBM in Sierra Leone. The Jesus Booth, in its simplicity, was the perfect tool for a man with limited resources in a country torn apart by war. In providing M. S. and other church members with a booth, we took ourselves, our agendas, and our expectations out of the equation and allowed God to work.

While our team conducted a free medical clinic at a local church, we instructed M. S. and other local pastors, on how to build, set up, and run the Jesus Booth for the first time. During the two-day clinic, over 300 people came to Christ. In the history of our ministry we had never seen anything comparable. Content in our station to plant and water God’s seeds, we were experiencing a harvest of epic and unexpected proportions. Like never before, we were overwhelmed by God’s ability to change lives when we are willing to simply show up. God’s sufficient grace allowed the Jesus Booth to transcend doctrine, race and culture.

Any resistance or confusion we had encountered in the United States, whether it come from passionate Atheists looking for an argument or overzealous Christians who distorted the message of Christ, seemed to virtually fall away. Jesus’ words from Matthew took on new meaning as we, the few workers, began to witness a plentiful harvest. Up to this point, it was as if God had hidden his plan behind a cloak, lifting it ever so slightly to show us a tiny corner of the landscape of his love. As we accepted the challenge of overseas missions, God pulled back the cloak to reveal a panorama of fertile soil.

It was during that trip to Sierra Leone that I began to understand another part of God’s plan for our lives. Sierra Leone is the poorest country in the world. Destroyed by civil war, the people of Sierra Leone are literally sifting through ashes to rebuild their lives. Much of what spurs them on to work toward something better is the hope found in a relationship with Jesus Christ. Spiritually, many of the people we met were what could only be described as joyful. They were quick to rely on God as their hope and salvation and his promises for the future.

What struck me as so powerful was seeing how the message of Christ offered by the men and women standing in the Jesus Booth, became complete or perfect when partnered with the work our 4 H. I. M. team was doing at the same time. In Matthew 25, Jesus says, “35For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.” When his followers asked him when this had happened, he replied, “45I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.” Jesus calls us to preach the gospel and to take care of not only the lost, but also a deeply needy and hurting world. I believe God blessed our efforts because we recognized both the spiritual and physical needs of his people.

Shortly after this first trip out with the Jesus Booth, we got word through email from one of the pastors of a truly miraculous event, reminiscent of what was common during the time Christ walked the earth. An illiterate widow who had worked in the Jesus Booth with M. S. in Freetown traveled to a remote village known as Rookbob to attend a funeral.

Before she left to come home, she heard that another man in the village had fallen in the fields while he worked. As the crowds gathered to see the man, the Muslim imams announced that the man was dead. After a medical official was consulted, they began to prepare the burial rites, wrapping him in linens and praying prayers for the dead. As difficult as it is to believe rationally, firsthand witnesses agree and continue to affirm that the man was unequivocally dead. Emboldened by the work she had been doing, the widow asked if she could say a prayer to Jesus Christ for the man. At first, the imams told her no and continued with their rituals. Persistently, she asked again and they acquiesced. After saying a simple prayer, the man sneezed three times and sat up.

Because of this woman’s faith, a man was raised from the dead. Soon after M.S. brought the Jesus Booth to the village and 166 Muslim people from the village of Rookbob became Christians on that day. Since then, the village, which had had no Christians before this woman prayed her prayer, has converted their mosque into a church.

For the people of Sierra Leone, the Jesus Booth has become much more than an outreach tool. M. S., who is now the pastor of an amputee camp and a missionary through Jesus Booth Ministries, is leading the call to care for his community with the love of Christ. He is building Jesus Booth’s and training others on how to use the Jesus Booth’s. Hundreds of people have come to experience hope and healing spiritually, and with the help of 4 H. I. M., many of them are recovering physically and financially through prosthetic limb and micro-loan programs.

Suddenly we find our ministry in an unexpected and exciting new place. As we prayerfully consider the near future, we are consumed with questions about where God will take us next. Aside from the work we will continue to do in the United States, we are already planning trips to Sierra Leone, Togo, and possibly India in 2009.

The success we have experienced with M. S. is awe-inspiring. Our hope is that God will multiply his ministry and allow him to find faithful, motivated helpers to come along side him and continue the tremendous work God has begun. With M. S. as a model, we are praying that God will direct us to similar men and women in other nations around the world who can serve as in-country missionaries on behalf of JBM. We praise God for His continual blessings, and ask that you join us in prayer for his guidance and direction in making this possible.

So often, our vision is limited. Even with clear purpose and the purest intentions, our best plan is mediocre when compared with the perfect plan of God. In reference to hardship, I have heard people say that God will only give us what we can handle. Likewise, sometimes God gives us one piece of the puzzle at a time so as not to overwhelm us, like Moses, with the glory of his face. My prayer for JBM, for the people who benefit from the ministry, and for anyone who reads this is that we are all overwhelmed by the bright power of God’s gaze and that our lives are a reflection of his marvelous light.

Nathan leaves to Africa the morning of September 17 along with Steve Hollingsworth from 4HIM ministries and plans to return on October 12. He will be visiting Ghana, Togo and Sierra Leone. He has been partnering with 4HIM in Africa, evangelizing and providing the local believers with Jesus Booth’s.

He will be taking with him, 2 more Jesus Booth’s for the believers in Ghana and working along side MS in Sierra Leone. While there, he will be visiting the three churches that were started in remote villages, through MS, using the Jesus Booth’s to share the Gospel.

It is a very exciting time! We hope to have updates for you all, while he is in Africa. Please keep Steve and Nathan in your prayers.

Thank you again for partnering with us.

Hi guys. I just wanted to let you know that we have started up a Jesus Booth in our area. We display the charter as well. One of the things we have a vision for is to provide informational tracts (as well as straight out Gospel tracts). We just finished our first tract and I wanted you to see it.

After engaging the culture we see a great need for good info to be made available to those who really want it. We will be making other tracts on How We Got the Bible, Church History, All Roads do NOT Lead to God, Homosexuality (a loving, Biblical response), and others. Charlie Campbell’s ministry has much to be gleaned from (AlwaysBeReady.com). At some point soon I will send you guys some photos of us out in our community.

Thanks so much for the inspiration.we have set up 4 times now and are having incredible success! People just flock to us.to mock of course, but many have walked away silenced and really challenged to reconsider the lies they have been told. To God be all the Glory!

In Christ,

Jerry Cesario

“This hope we have, both sure and steadfast; an anchor for the soul.”

While in CA, I was able to set up at least five times in Santa Monica~ the Promenade. I had great encounters and long conversations with non-believers who truly were seeking answers about the Bible and truly considering, with different degrees, the truth of the Gospel.

I love utilizing the booth in Santa Monica CA. It is one of my favorite places to use the Booth. Most people there are willing to go beyond shallow conversations and really are not afraid to dig deep.

Thank you Calvary Chapel LAX for allowing me to share about Jesus Booth Ministries with the congregation and what is going on here in the U.S. and in Africa. It was truly a blessing!

Please continue to pray for the ministry and the future mission trips:

Sierra Leone, Togo and a few more in Africa
also…India

If you would like to support JBM in any way, please go to www.jesusbooth.com

We thank you so much for all your prayers and support!
